M40
M40, a peptide containing the N-terminal galanin sequence (1-13), is an antagonist of the galanin receptor. M40 significantly antagonized galanin-induced feeding behavior at doses approximately equimolar to the active doses of rat galanin. M40 inhibited the binding of (¹²?I-Tyr²?)-galanin (porcine) in rat hypothalamic membranes with an IC?? value of 15 nM.
