Evans Blue
Evan's Blue is also known as Azo Blue. Both Evans Blue and Trypan Blue are cell viability dyes, which are commonly used to detect the integrity of cell membranes and the survival of cells. Living cells cannot be dyed blue by Evansland because of their efflux function, while dead cells will be dyed light blue. Therefore, this method can be used to distinguish dead cells from living cells under the microscope, but it cannot distinguish death from necrosis.
