Capsule stain kit
The bacterial capsule is a layer of mucous polysaccharide outside the bacterial cell wall. It has a weak affinity for dyes and is not easy to stain. Usually, negative staining such as India ink is used to stain the background while the capsule and bacteria are not stained. The staining is fast but there is a risk of misjudgment. Later, it was improved to use the form of internal and external double staining to color the bacteria and the background at the same time, effectively improving the accuracy of identification. Because the capsule contains a lot of water, is loose and thin, it is generally not necessary to heat fix it during staining to prevent the capsule from shrinking and deforming.
This product adopts the classic capsule staining method and can be used for the identification of encapsulated bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Bacillus anthracis and Clostridium perfringens.
