beta-Galactosidase Activity Assay kit
beta-GAL (EC 3.2.1.23) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms and cultured cells. It can catalyze the hydrolysis of beta-galactosidic bonds in beta-galactoside compounds, and also has the effect of transgalactoside. beta-GAL can not only release stored energy for the rapid growth of plants, but also catalyze the hydrolysis of polysaccharides, glycoproteins, and galactose residues at the terminal galactose residues during normal polysaccharide metabolism, cell wall component metabolism, and cell wall degradation during aging. Release free galactose.
beta-GAL decomposes p-nitrobenzene-beta-D-galactopyranoside to generate p-nitrophenol, which has a maximum absorption peak at 400nm. beta-GAL is calculated by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance active.
