Apelin-13, Human, Bovine
Apelin-13, generated from apelin-36, is an endogenous peptide ligand for the human APJ receptor, a putative receptor protein related to the angiotensin receptor (AT1). Apelin-13 exerted an acidification-rate-promoting activity in the CHO cells expressing the APJ receptor with a median effective concentration (EC??) value of 0.37 nM. In a study of Valle et al. chronic central administration of apelin-13 over 10 days increased food intake, body weight, locomotor activity and body temperature in C57BL/6 mice.
